The Last Word is a premiere cocktail and whiskey bar located in downtown ann arbor which serves not only exquisite drinks, but also decadent food. The saloon operates beneath a nightclub and is reminiscent of a 1920s speakeasy. The underground bar was in need of additional space for patrons to gather which is what led to the design of the new feature. The drink rail sought to evoke feelings of a jazzy, cool place and serve as a beacon to the visitors of the bar. The drink rail is situated between the existing main bar and additional seating with enough space located on either side to allow for servers and patrons to walk through. The piece is made up of posts, painted plywood, and patterned screens. THe brass screens manifest luxury and let ambient, dappled light glow through the piece, while additional lighting shines down on the solid cherry counter. The drink rail is a new timeless focal point in a popular Ann Arbor neighborhood bar. Cheers!
